BALANCE TESTING
The ENG is a test of the balance system. The balance (vestibular) system is tightly connected to the visual system. Stimulation of the balance system will result in predictable eye movements. By measuring these eye movements, important information can be gained about the balance system.
The VEMP is a test of the balance system. The balance (vestibular) system is tightly connected to the muscles and joints of the neck. Your body uses natural reflexes to keep your head upright in response to motion. One of these reflexes occurs in response to sound. A careful measure of this VEMP response provides information about changes that may occur in the inner ear in certain disease processes.
